Salary
Fellows will become salaried employees of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) on the first day that all teachers report to work in early August. The starting salary for Fellows is the same as that for all other beginning teachers in the M-DCPS system; a first-year Fellow can expect to make approximately $38,000 to $40,000 annually. Fellows with a Master’s degree directly related to their teaching assignment also receive an additional $3,000 in pay. Fellows teaching ESE, math, and science can expect their salary to start on a slightly higher step and be around $38,000. They are also eligible for a $1,000 stipend upon completion of the school year.

Summer Stipend
Fellows are provided with a stipend to help defer living costs during the summer institute training. This year’s stipend will be $1,500 for the summer. Because the time between the start of training and a Fellow’s first paycheck may be lengthy (possibly June to September), we encourage Fellows to take appropriate measures to ensure their financial well-being during this time.  Fellows will receive this $1,500 taxable stipend upon successful completion of Summer Institute.

Benefits
As employees of M-DCPS, Fellows are eligible for the same comprehensive benefits as all teachers, including a pension plan, choice of health insurance plans, dental, prescription, and vision coverage, as well as access to a 401k plan.
