Program Overview:

Miami Teaching Fellows is looking to individuals like you, our area's most outstanding professionals and community members, to become teachers in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Our highly-selective teacher training program is specifically designed to increase the academic achievement of students in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).

Miami Teaching Fellows will be interviewed and chosen to become part of this ambitious program throughout the winter and spring, will receive training during the summer, and will begin their teaching full-time in the 2008-2009 school year. Miami Teaching Fellows will teach English, math, science, exceptional student education, and elementary education.

We are calling on professionals from all fields to bring their experience, knowledge, and records of achievement to the classroom in a way that will positively impact the lives of students who need their leadership and expertise the most. Miami Teaching Fellows will become part of a powerful network of new teachers and will work with other outstanding and progressive educators to make systemic improvements from within our county's schools.

Your opportunity to make a difference in education is right now – as M-DCPS and Superintendent of Schools Rudolph F. Crew make powerful strides with a plan for greater student achievement, strong school management, and the highest quality instruction. There is much work to be done in order to ensure that all of our county’s students perform at levels that give them an equal chance for success in life. Accept our challenge to become a part of this turning point in M-DCPS history.

As a Miami Teaching Fellow, you will pursue your teaching credential through a M-DCPS-sponsored, no-cost, alternate-route certification program, attend training at a comprehensive summer institute prior to teaching, get paid a full teacher’s salary with complete benefits, and have access to additional incentives for new teachers.

Our program is committed to providing Miami-Dade County with a new group of teachers who will work tirelessly to increase student achievement and to help our children to find academic success throughout their educational careers.
