As Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) forge ahead in a new era of education reform, we need strong, determined, and innovative educators to make this journey a success. Teachers are at the heart of this school system; they bring promise and opportunity to the children who fill the classrooms and depend greatly on their daily guidance and continued vigilance.

From the opening days of his term in 2004, Superintendent Rudy Crew defined three priorities for the school district: eliminating low-performing schools, increasing academic achievement for all students, and bringing cost-efficiency to the district’s construction and business practices.  Dr. Crew called upon principals and administrators to embrace three C’s he considered essential to moving M-DCPS forward: Change, Choices and Courage.

The need for outstanding teachers is greater than ever to fulfill Dr. Crew’s priorities for school performance and student achievement. Fourty-seven percent (47%) of third through tenth grade students are reading below grade level; 41% are below grade level in mathematics. We know that all students have the potential to excel; so, we are calling on the area’s brightest and best individuals to rise to the occasion and join the efforts already underway at M-DCPS. Although great strides have been made in the quality of education in M-DCPS and in student achievement, dedicated teachers are always needed to ensure that none of our students are left behind and that they all have equal opportunities for success.

Become part of this critical time of change in M-DCPS. The time has come to make a difference and become a part of history. This is your chance. Our first priority application deadline is March 17, 2008.
